After listening to today’s presentations and reading what the new Minister of Education in the newspapers. Please read the opinion in the December 6th International Herald Tribune. Do you agree with the writer? Why? Give at least 3 examples to support your answer.



I agree with writer. Our mother tongue is not English, but the world common language is English. Asia gets off to a bad start.

"Japanese should be proud that their scores on the Toefl, the test that assesses English proficiency of non-native speakers, rank among the lowest in Asia. That is the result of the country never having been colonized nor forced to speak another language."
Japan was the existence that stood alone like this sentence. Therefore Japan did not come influence of the other countries. When the culture of other countries was in Japan, Japan took means called the national isolation. Japan did not receive a second language. Japan does not have the English history.

"The competition now faced by Japanese company A is not another Japanese company, but Chinese or Korean or American. The embarrassingly low level of English spoken by Japanese managers, while a mere embarrassment before, is now a major business liability,"
Japan cannot speak English fluently, so there is not it in the eyes of other countries. For example, the person of other countries is going to palm off a high thing when we went to the other countries because the Japanese cannot speak English.　Japan is despised by the other countries.

"To forge ahead, Japanese students will also have to overcome their shyness in trying out new words."
Japan is not positive in comparison with the other countries. Japan always falls one step and watches the state of around the country. I think that Japanese reserve. I can't understand that Japanese is afraid of speaking.

Man and Woman

The sense of values of woman and man is different. A man is below a woman in mental age because there is time I talk with a man, and to feel that the way of thinking of the man is childish. I may have a masculine thought. I don't want to do an email and a call every day. The woman demands a lot from a man. A woman is more positive than a man. I think that the woman wants there to be a man with the same feeling. Therefore the woman doubts the feeling of the man. I think that the woman should think about the feeling of the man more and should be considerate more.

Table Manner

Have you ever eaten in a foreign restaurant? Where?
Yes, I have been to foreign restarant. When I was child, I went to eat French food with a family in Japan.

What did you eat?
I don't remember it.

Did you make any mistakes? Please explain your experience.
The French food has a lot of manners formally. When I ate soup, I made a sound. I must use the spoon from the edge. However, I used it without turn relations.

Did you learn anything?
I knew that there was a manner every country. We must protect it.

First, we talked and saw many international weddings and compared them with Japan. Please answer the following questions in your blog:



Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Eloping?

I want to make a wedding ceremony be an once-in-a-lifetime thing luxuriously. The wedding ceremony is admiration for a bride. It costs a lot of money to have the wedding ceremony for a memory.

Having it in a foreign location like Hawaii?
I don't want to hold a wedding ceremony abroad, because I'm a Japanese. I want to hold a wedding ceremony in a mother country. I want to wear a white silk dress. When I held a wedding ceremony abroad, my friends cannot come very much.



What is your ideal wedding?
I want to hold a wedding ceremony in June. A marriage ceremonial hall with the swimming pool is good. I want a lot of friends to celebrate it grandly. I want to do two times of color rectification. For example, wear a white silk dress first; and next is a dress.



What would you definitely do or wear or go to on that big day?
I want to wear a pure white dress. I put on the veil of the flower. And I want to be covered with a small tiara. I also want to wear the white silk dress. The white silk dress is admiration for a Japanese.

Superstition Homework

We talked about many superstitions in many countries, but do you think it is important to talk about them? Why?
No, I think it isn't important. I don't believe the superstition. The superstition is not reality. When I usually talk with friends, we don't talk about the superstition. However, the old people believed superstitions. They were afraid of superstitions and lived not to go against it. So,I think that the superstition is important for the old person.

Is communication affected by superstitions?
I think that superstitions don't influence conversation. When the thing that is not good happened for us, we may be influenced by superstition. We attribute them to the superstition. The person believes the convenient thing, but the bad thing cannot be reception.

Do you believe in Japanese superstitions?
I don't believe it about Japanese superstition. I don't know Japanese superstition. My grandparents tell me it about the superstition.

If so, what superstitions, what do they mean and why do you do,use, or believe in them?
I don't know how to use about superstition. I don't understand the superstition and difference of the jinx.

Homework#4

The English language has many proverbs and sayings about time.

1. Time is money.
Being the thing which is precious almost as same as money with time.
However, I think that I cannot create it like money at time.
Therefore I think that time is more important than money.

2.A stitch in time saves nine.
I can't understand this sentense.


3.There's no time like the present.
Be careful with now without looking back on a past. Do not regret a past.I think that time does not need to return even if I grieve over a past no matter how much. For example, I persist in we past when one's favorite person died. However, oneself cannot find happiness if particular about a past. I watch more reality and think that I should enjoy now.

4. Fashionable late.
This mean is old-fashioned. I think that middle-aged person having used the old words. I use this words for the person in old clothes. However, we do not have to mind about fashionable late. The reason is because there is not personality by minding the fashion.

1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?

Yes, I do. I think that personality is reflected on clothes. The person wearing clothes with a feeling of cleanliness gives us a tidy impression.
Paradoxically the person whom dirty clothes come to gives a bad impression to us. It lowers the impression of the person





2. Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?





I don't think so. I am interested in the culture of the person than clothes. The culture of the country can understand it by folk costume.










3. What colors are you wearing now? Do they reflect your mood?
The color of the clothes which I wear is not decided. I change the color of clothes by the feeling of the day.
